About Raji Shivshanker, LCSW
Pasadena Trauma Therapist and EMDR Therapist
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Pasadena Trauma Therapy, Inc. I have provided individual therapy throughout Los Angeles County to adults and young adults treating anxiety, depression, relationship issues, attachment issues, various forms of trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and issues of identity etc. I currently work predominately with adult trauma survivors and complex PTSD (sexual abuse including incest & cult abuse, physical and emotional abuse or neglect, dissociative disorders, etc.).
I am trained in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) Level I and the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) Level A. IPT is an evidence-based practice which focuses on attachment and communication style to build skills necessary to improve interpersonal functioning. TRM is a somatic approach which focuses on noticing sensations in the body to heal the nervous system which can be deeply impacted by major or daily recurring traumas.
I am also an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing( EMDR) practitioner. EMDR is a form of psychotherapy that has been successful in helping people who suffer from trauma, anxiety, panic, disturbing memories, nightmares, etc. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping) while the client attends to past memories and triggers, in efforts to decrease or eliminate emotional distress connected to the memory.
My approach is to start where you are. My goal is to provide a safe place where you can explore your needs without judgment. I believe in bringing individualized understanding, authentic care, and hope to those I work with while navigating challenges and healing wounds, so that you can live your fullest life. My authentic and grounded approach creates space for you to feel comfortable exploring your experiences, relationship and needs in an embodied way.
